The state’s arrears to the private sector increased in March 2021, with hospitals recording a noteworthy hike in arrears.
According to figures released by the finance ministry, the Greek state’s arrears increased by 267 million euros in the specific month, with the total sum reaching 2.565 billion euros, up from 2.298 billion euros in the previous month, February 2021. The figure includes extraordinary rebates to businesses drastically affected by the pandemic.
Specifically for state hospitals, arrears to suppliers have reached 893 million euros, up from 502 million euros in December 2020. Social security funds follow, with arrears totaling 526 million euros.
