A major development in Greece’s burgeoning “green” energy sector was revealed this week, with the announcement that the so-called “White Dragon” proposal was submitted in relation to the Greek government’s call for future hydrogen production, which is included in the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) framework.
The proposal was submitted by a group of companies that comprise the biggest energy providers and producers in Greece, from the private, public and joint public-private sectors.
The coordinator of the proposal is DE.PA commerce, a natural gas supplier, along with Advent Technologies, Damco Energy (Copelouzos group), τη PPC, DES.FA, Hellenic Petroleum, Motor Oil, Corinth Pipes, the TAP pipeline and Terna Energy.
The proposal has a total investment price tag of eight billion euros, and aims to develop innovative and comprehensive “green hydrogen” production in Greece, which covers the entire value chain of the element.
