German travel giant TUI this week announced that more than 4,000 of its customers have already arrived in Greece for holidays since the country’s tourism season opened on Friday.
TUI said 23 flights landed in Greece since last week carrying its customers.
The optimistic note comes even amid a report by the German news agency fvw, which states that Greece still shows a high concentration of the Covid-19 virus among the population, causing the German foreign ministry to issue a relevant warning.
TUI has remained optimistic over the course of the current holiday season in Greece, with Group executive Sebatian Ebel noting that demand by German citizens for Greek vacations is constantly growing, with the company focusing this year on Mediterranean destinations, such as Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.
Another destination that recently re-emerged on the German market are the Canary Islands, after Berlin lifted a warning over travel to Spain’s Atlantic island chain.
