The Ministry of Tourism considers that the events of the international haute couture fashion house “Dior”, which are dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the struggle for the independence of Greece and the creation of the Greek state, will be a particularly positive sign.

The proposal of the fashion house entitled “Dior celebrates Greece” provides for the presentation of the special collection “Resort 2022” which will be dedicated to the 200 years since the Revolution of 1821, with creations that will be prepared in Greece with Greek fabrics and raw materials, by Greek women and craftsmen and creators, with the aim of promoting the Greek tradition and at the same time the talent and know-how of the Greeks in this field.

According to the file submitted, the main event for the presentation of the special collection is proposed to take place at the Kallimarmaro Stadium, on June 17, with a live television broadcast internationally. For this reason, a request was submitted by the Tourism Ministry to the competent services of the Ministry of Culture, which will be examined by the Central Council of Modern Monuments.

As mentioned in Dior’s presentation file, the concepts “Phos” (light) and “Kallos” (beauty) that began to shine 2,500 years ago in Athens are completely in line with the aesthetic values and quality that the Dior stands for and in this context the request for the presentation of the new special collection in Greece was designed.

Focusing on the main event at the Kallimarmaro Stadium, Dior has also requested permission for some photographs with creations on Greek heritage and culture in emblematic places, including the Acropolis, the Herodion, the Ancient Agora, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio, and the Temple of Zeus in Nemea, always with respect to the historicity of the monuments. The relevant request was also submitted to the Ministry of Culture and examined by the Central Archaeological Council in accordance with the provisions of Law 3028/2002 “On the Protection of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage”.

This fact, given that it will receive an international presentation by major media, will contribute to the promotion of Greece abroad and the strengthening of tourism, according to the relevant information of the ministry.
