The Italian federation of associations of travel and tourism companies (FIAVET) this week inaugurated its annual assembly on the Greek isle of Skiathos, in the west-central Aegean, just across from the Thessaly mainland.
Sessions began on Thursday at the historic Bourtzi site at the old harbour.
More than 50 representatives of Italy’s biggest tour operators are participating, along with journalists.
In addressing the assembly, Alitalia Vice president of international markets, Nicola Bonacchi, announced that the Italian carrier will, beginning in August – the peak of the summer season – begin twice-a-week flights from Rome and Milan to the Sporades island of Skiathos.
In addressing the same event, the managing director of MSC Crociere Italiani, Leonardo Massa, announced that three of the company’s cruises ships will commence voyages in the Aegean at the end of June, with several isles on the itinerary.
On her part, FIAVET President Ivana Jelinic referred to excellent relations between Greece and Italy in the every single tourism sector, while expressing a hope that the situation will soon return to normal after the pandemic.
