Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke by phone on Wednesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with discussions focusing on bilateral investments, trade, tourism and cooperation in the field of culture.
The phone conversation came on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of “Integrated Strategic Partnership” agreement, signed by the two countries in 2006, which upgraded Greece-China to the level of strategic partnership.
Both leaders also agreed to extend the “Greece-China Year of Culture & Tourism” to 2022. The initiative is due to begin in September 2021.
On his part, Mitsotakis expressed his government’s appreciation for Beijing’s stance in favor of settling the Cyprus question on the basis of UNSC resolutions. He also accepted an invitation by President Xi to attend the 2022 Winter Olympics of Beijing.
