Skylakakis: Fire victims will receive the money they are entitled to in the next 10-15 days
the advances that will be given will be able to cover the first needs of the fire victims
Victims of fires will receive the money they are entitled to in the next 10 to 15 days, Alternate Finance Minister Theodoros Skylakakis said on Wednesday.
He also said that the owners and the tenants of the destroyed business buildings will be compensated as a relevant provision exists. On the Real Estate Property Tax, he said that the exemption of the liable will be held automatically the minute they fill in their application for compensation on the special platform.
Speaking to ANT1 TV, Skylakakis said that the advances that will be given will be able to cover the first needs of the fire-stricken and afterwards will follow the housing subsidy and a series of tax and other exemptions.
According to Skylakakis, the wildfires that hit the country in the last days constitute a new form of fires that are called mega-fires and have already appeared in the Mediterranean. He also noted that these fires will stay and will get worse as they are the result of the climate change and unfortunately, we must learn to live with them.
