Upturn in Zakynthos – Ionian governor announces lifting of restrictive measures

The application of the extension of the restrictive measures in Zakynthos did not even last 24 hours, since as it became known, the lockdown is being lifted.

As the governor of the Ionian Islands, Rodi Kratsa, stated on public broadcaster ERT, the situation was re-examined, as a result of which the relevant decision was taken.

It is recalled that yesterday, Thursday, it was decided to extend the local lockdown in the Regional Units of Zakynthos and Chania, after the re-evaluation of the weekly epidemiological data by the subcommittee of Infectious Diseases and the National Committee for Public Health Protection against the covid-19 country surveillance by Regional Unit and Municipality.

However, within a few hours there was a new assessment of the situation, and finally the measures will be lifted in Zakynthos and there will be no extension, which now concerns only Chania.

It is noted, however, that an official announcement has not yet been issued confirming the statements of the governor.

The measures in force in Chania:

-Traffic ban from 01:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning, with the exception of work reasons and serious health reasons.

– Prohibition of music around the clock in stores of health interest and entertainment.

The measures are extended until Wednesday 18 August at 6:00.

It is also reminded that throughout the country, it is forbidden to hold any form of events in exchange for any form of remuneration, with the physical presence of a crowd of more than twenty (20) people in a private, non-professional space. The administrative fine in case of violation amounts from 50,000 to 200,000 euros for the lessee or concessionaire of the private, non-professional space, in which the said event took place or takes place.
