French pilots will be present at the Athens Flying Week 2021 event, in Tanagra, September 4 and 5, 2021, at the invitation of the Greek authorities.
France will be represented by:
1) The Rafale Solo Display team: first opportunity for the public to discover up close the unique capabilities of this 4.5 generation aircraft, a French Air Force aircraft similar to the 18 aircraft recently acquired by the Hellenic Air Force. Developed by Dassault Aviation, this multi-mission aircraft is capable of carrying out a variety of missions such as air superiority, power projection, bombing and intelligence missions, among others. Squadron leader Jérôme Thoule, nicknamed “Schuss”, will demonstrate the exceptional abilities of this high-tech jewel in the Greek sky .
2) The acrobatic swarm “Patrouille de France”: the pilots are excited by the idea of returning to Tanagra after their excellent performance in 2019, to present to the Greek public their latest spectacular routines. At the cockpit of the Alphajets, the national colors of Greece and France will rise in the Greek sky, while they will not forget to pay tribute to the Greek cultural heritage, flying over the Acropolis of Athens.
The Ambassador of France to Greece, Patrick Maisonnave, stated in this regard: “The presence of Rafale and Patrouille de France in Tanagra highlights with unparalleled brilliance the excellent relationship between France and Greece. I am very proud because on the anniversary of the Two Hundred Years of the Greek Revolution, the French and Greek pilots open a new chapter of our historical cooperation. The fact that they are jointly trained and use the same aircraft guarantees the continuation and deepening of the brotherhood in arms for many more years.”
