ELSTAT – Reduction by 87.5% to museum visitors in the first five months of 2021
Only the country’s museums operated for 18 calendar days in May this year, as they had suspended their operation from March 14, 2020 to June 16, 2020 and gradually from November 1, 2020 to May 13, 2021, in implementation of measures to address the pandemic

The country’s museums were open for only 18 calendar days in May this year, as they had suspended their operation from March 14, 2020 to June 16, 2020 and gradually from November 1, 2020 to May 13, 2021, in implementation of measures to address the pandemic.
As a result, according to ELSTAT, in the first 5 months there is a decrease of 87.5% in visitors, 88.7% in free admission visitors and 76.6% in receipts.
Archaeological sites in May recorded an increase of visitors by 783.5%, free admission visitors by 453% and receipts by 1332.7%, given that in May 2020 there were a total of 14 calendar days, while since May this year they operated normally.
In the first 5 months, there was a decrease of 69.1% in visitors, 68.7% in free admission visitors and 55.9% in receipts, given the suspension of the archaeological sites from March 14 to May 17, 2020 and again from November 7, 2020 to March 21, 2021.
