According to the official announcement of IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator), the coupling of the overnight electricity market of Greece with the markets of Italy and Slovenia has been completed.
This coupling marks another milestone in the process of unification of the European electricity market following the coupling of the pre-market market of Greece and Italy on December 15, 2020, according to IPTO.
The combined operation of the intraday market is the result of intensive cooperation between the Administrators of Greece, Italy and Slovenia, as well as the energy exchanges of these countries, in harmonization with the European regulation.
The next milestone in the convergence of the domestic with the neighboring electricity markets is the start of operation of the continuous intraday market on the Greek-Italian border and Greece-Bulgaria in 2022.
