The pathogenesis of health systems and the significant gaps in the drug supply chain in the European Union and the rest of the world have emerged from the pandemic and the health crisis it has brought. The situation has led to new trends in the environment of the European pharmaceutical industry, as well as in the health and pharmaceutical systems of the countries of the European Union, but also internationally.
These issues will be discussed at the international conference of the European pharmaceutical industry Medicines for Europe and the International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association – associations representing the generic pharmaceutical industry – which takes place on October 6-8 in Athens, co-organized by the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association (PPA).
“Goal 2030: Access for all – Generating a healthy medicines strategy for the next decade” is a conference taking place while a dialogue has begun in Europe, at the initiative of the European Commission, to strengthen European drug production, which will ensure Europe ‘s self – sufficiency and the adequacy of medicines.
The Conference, which is the first to be held live, is attended by more than 200 delegates, prominent executives of major European pharmaceutical industries, as well as high-ranking officials of the European Commission and the Greek government.
Medicines for Europe represents the generic, biosimilars and value-added drugs industry at European level. The members of the Union supply 70% of the medicines available in Europe, which are produced in 400 European factories and employ 190,000 highly skilled workers.
PPA, representing the Greek pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, actively participates in the National Association Committee of Medicines for Europe together with 23 other associations of European Union countries.
The administration of PPA points out that it is a special honor for the Union, both the organization in Athens of such an important conference of international scope, and its participation in the formulation of new policies that will ensure greater access to quality and affordable medicines for all, without exclusions.
