Opinion poll – Greece: 56% of respondents who haven’t been vaccinated for Covid-19 unwilling to do so under any circumstances

On the political front, ruling New Democracy (ND) party’s double-digit percentage point lead over main opposition SYRIZA party continues

A nationwide opinion poll in Greece, presented on primetime newscast on Tuesday evening, shows that 56 percent of respondents who answered that they haven’t been vaccinated for the Covid-19 virus further clarified they will not change their minds no matter what.

At the same time, slightly more than seven of 10 respondents (73 percent) in the poll said they have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Interestingly enough, 15 percent of all respondents answered “don’t know/won’t answer”, and 7 percent said they have not been vaccinated and will not do so. Finally, 5 percent of respondents in the poll said they have not been vaccinated but will eventually do so.

The results of the poll by the Pulse firm were presented on the evening newscast of Athens-based broadcaster Skai.

Of the “anti-vax” bloc of respondents in the poll, 56 percent of the latter said nothing can change their minds. Eight percent of this same group said they would do so “if proposed by a religious figure they trust”; the same figure, 8 percent, said they would get vaccinated if this was obligatory for their employment.

On the political front, ruling New Democracy (ND) party’s double-digit percentage point lead over main opposition SYRIZA party continues, according to results of the survey.

Specifically, center-right ND is given 36.5 percent of respondents’ preference regarding which political party they would vote for in any coming election; leftist SYRIZA follows with 24.5 percent, while another four smaller parties are given high to low single-digit figures in the voting preference category. All four are currently represented in Greece’s Parliament, where the threshold for representation is above 3 percent of valid votes in a general election.

Current Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is deemed as most suitable for the post by 41 percent of respondents, when compared to another two choices, namely, “neither of the two”, which is preferred by 30 percent, followed by former PM Alexis Tsipras, who is preferred by 26 percent of respondents in the specific poll.
