The proposal-plan for the compensations of citrus growers of Ilia – Achaia as well as other regions of the country that were affected by the spring frost was prepared and sent to the European Commission by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
It should be noted that according to ELGA estimates, the crops were at a stage not covered by the current regulation of the organization, so no immediate compensation is provided, with the plan proposing inclusion in the State Financial Subsidy Program.
The plan, according to the information provided by the Deputy Regional Minister for Rural Development of Western Greece, Theodoros Vassilopoulos, by ELGA Vice President Nikos Doukas, has included, among other things, the Navelina and Merlin varieties, which suffered serious and extensive damage to all this year’s production.
