Professor of Pulmonology, Nikos Tzanakis spoke to MEGA channel about the course of the pandemic and the vaccines, while he also referred to the concern that has arisen from the announcement of the WHO for the increase of cases from the Omicron variant.

“Each country will see its epidemiological environment, its vaccination coverage, its hard indicators and will act accordingly. The virus hides other surprises, and I hope we do not take measures as hard as before. Here in Crete we have twice the epidemiological burden compared to the rest of Greece. We also have cases of vaccinated people, but they pass it gently at home. The number of cases may seem problematic, but in the NHS it is not considered a problematic picture”, he stated initially.

It is too early to revoke the vaccination certificate

“The vaccination certificate is a complex health decision that contributes to the following: It pushes people to get vaccinated and gain this ‘privilege of freedom’. not to get seriously ill. “It is premature to discuss the abolition of the certificate,” he added.

The 3rd dose is key for immunoprotection

Regarding the 3rd installment, Mr. Tzanakis pointed out, among other things, that “the 3rd dose is very important and we should do it. 80% of the population is immunized either by natural disease or by vaccination.
