The National Public Health Organisation today (9am) announced 72 COVID-19 deaths and 6,926 newly confirmed infections in the last 24 hours (the number of tests performed on weekends is much lower than on weekdays).
A total of 28,205 people infected with COVID-19 have died since the beginning of the pandemic, 95.4 percent with an underlying medical condition and/or age 70 or older.
A total of 3.18mn infections (49 percent men) have been recorded by EODY since the beginning of the pandemic (a daily increase of 0.2 percentage points).
COVID reinfections

Intubated patients, hospital admissions
There are currently 359 intubated COVID-19 patients (65.7 percent men), with a median age of 70-years-old, and 91.9 percent have an underlying medical condition and/or are age 70 or older.
Among intubated patients, 56.55 percent are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, while 43.45 percent are fully vaccinated.
A total of 313 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (a daily decrease of 4.57 percentage points). For the last seven days, the average daily number of admissions is 352 patients.
The median age of individuals with newly confirmed infections is 36-years-old, while the median age of patients who died was 79-years-old.
