Union of Hellenic Chambers Prez: “Greek business must and will be strong”
The President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers’ thoughts about the consequences of the Russo-Ukrainian war
The aftermath of the Russo-Ukrainian War creates uncertainty in the economies of the world. However, the Greek business will win this “battle”, despite the great difficulties, estimates the President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers, Giannis Masoutis.
Despite the great difficulties, “entrepreneurs should see the glass half full and not half empty”.
After the pandemic came the war that causes energy and economic upheaval, with consequences for all economies, with imported inflation that besieges businesses. Entrepreneurs are called upon to lift the “burden” once again. We are faced with an external wave of price hikes, but “Greek businessmen must and have proved that they will succeed”, stressed the President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers.
2022 will still be a good fiscal year for Greece
“The crisis is also affecting the Greek economy, but it will not finish it off,” said the President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers. Businesses withstand strong international shocks, said Mr. Masoutis, despite the huge challenges and high uncertainty, and “Greek businesses will remain an example to emulate”.
According to Mr. Masoutis, the Greek Government was called to act immediately, in very adverse conditions, to deal with the consequences of the war “by spreading a safety net over companies”, while regarding the 3% ceiling on professional lease increases The President of the Central Union of Chambers estimates that “due to the extraordinary circumstances it is a measure that will help companies to be able to cope with the pressures they receive from the imported inflation”.
Regarding the reduction of VAT on basic goods and services, Mr. Masoutis noted that the Central Union is in direct contact with the competent Minister of Development & Investment, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, to examine the possibility of reducing it, in order to alleviate the burden on households and businesses.
Finally, commenting on the extension by 1 year of the term of the administrations of the Chambers, Mr. Masoutis stated that it is a “correct and fair” suggestion, as “the conditions created by the war in the market are not suitable for conducting an electoral process, which requires the appropriate means and the time available for this purpose “.
