The CEO of the “reincarnated” and now online Thomas Cook travel agency, Alan French, said 30 percent of the company’s current 2022 bookings are for Greece, making the country the top destination in its vacation offers.

Speaking during a press conference in Athens on Wednesday, the veteran Thomas Cook executive added that bookings for certain popular Greek islands, such as Rhodes, are already up seven-fold, compared to last year.

French spoke after meeting in the Greek capital with National Tourism Organization (GNTO) president Angela Gerekou, with the business model of the “new Thomas Cook” and efforts to avoid “past mistakes”, as a carefully written press release noted, dominating talks.

The new Thomas Cook company, now part of the China-based Fosun Tourism Group, operates as an exclusively online travel agency.
