Q1 trade deficit at almost 8.5 billion euros
The picture for imports and exports
The trade deficit for the first quarter of 2022 reaches almost 8.5 billion euros, according to official Hellenic Statistical Authority – ELSTAT data. For March, the deficit reached close to 2.4 billion euros.
The total value of imports-arrivals, in March 2022 amounted to 6,896.1 million euros (7,576.5 million dollars) in comparison with 5,460.1 million euros (6,477.8 million dollars) in March 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 26.3%. The corresponding value excluding oil products in March 2022 recorded an increase of 857.9 million euros or 20.0% and the corresponding value
excluding oil products and ships in March 2022 recorded an increase of 860.4 million euros or 20.2%, in comparison with March 2021.
The total value of exports-dispatches, in March 2022 amounted to 4,510.9 million euros (4,985.6 million dollars) in comparison with 3,356.1 million euros (4,005.3 million dollars) in March 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 34.4%. The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded in March 2022 an increase of 592.8 million euros or 23.7% and the corresponding value
excluding oil products and ships in March 2022 recorded an increase of 588.5 million euros or 23.5%, in comparison with March 2021.
The deficit of the trade balance, in March 2022 amounted to 2,385.2 million euros (2,590.9 million dollars) in comparison with 2,104.0 million euros (2,472.5 million dollars) in March 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 13.4%. The corresponding value of deficit excluding oil products in March 2022 recorded an increase of 265.1 million euros or 14.9% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in March 2022 recorded an increase of 271.9 million euros or 15.4%, in comparison with March 2021.
Imports-exports in Q1
The total value of imports-arrivals, for the 3-month period from January to March 2022 amounted to 20,069.6 million euros (22,455.7 million dollars) in comparison with 13,529.2 million euros (16,242.4 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 48.3%.The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded an increase of 3,490.5 million euros or 32.9% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 3,472.7 million euros or 32.8%, in comparison with the period from January to March 2021.
The total value of exports-dispatches, for the 3-month period from January to March 2022 amounted to 11,593.2 million euros (13,033.0 million dollars) in comparison with 8,785.4 million euros (10,613.8 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 32.0%. The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded an increase of 1,599.0 million euros or 24.0% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 1,590.1 million euros or 23.9%, in comparison with the period from January to March 2021.
The deficit of the trade balance, for the 3-month period from January to March 2022 amounted to 8,476.4 million euros (9,422.7 million dollars) in comparison with 4,743.8 million euros (5,628.6 million dollars) for the corresponding period of the year 2021, recording an increase, in euros, of 78.7%. The corresponding deficit excluding oil products recorded an increase of 1,891.5
million euros or 47.9% and the corresponding deficit excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 1,882.6 million euros or 47.9%.
