Ministry of Transport: “I go everywhere by bike” – Information campaign

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, in charge of Transport, Michalis Papadopoulos, with the president of Fixed Transport (STASY) Mr. Harry Damasko and the managing director of rail transport authority  STASY, Athanasios Kottaras.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is carrying out an information campaign aimed at encouraging the use of bicycles, codifying the regulations concerning the use of bicycles.

The thematic units

The following thematic sections are available in the content of the website where the visitor can be informed about the following:

The passenger who will “scan” the QR code written on the sticker with his mobile phone will be “transferred” to the website of the Ministry of Transport, where he will be informed about the combined use of bicycles with Metro and Tram, as well as his rights as passenger – cyclist.

The stickers will be placed internally and externally on the doors of the latest trains on Lines 1, 2 & 3 of the Metro and Tram.

At the same time, from June 2, the spot of the campaign of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the use of bicycles will be shown on the screens inside the trains, but also on the screens at the stations of the stations of the fixed orbit means.

“Bicycles are the stars”

On the occasion of the inauguration of the application, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos, stated:

“The bicycle can become a protagonist in the transition to mild forms of urban mobility.

It is an economical tool, environmentally friendly and ideal for covering short distances in cities, with many benefits, even for health.

The campaign “I go everywhere by bicycle”, implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with STASY, is part of a more general strategy that we are following in order to enhance the use of bicycles.

We connect the cycling routes with the Means of Transport, we improve the infrastructure in favor of the safe use of the bicycle, we provide incentives for the daily use of the bicycle and we promote the cycling tourism.

We create a friendlier environment for the bicycle, with a plan, vision and specific actions “.

Passenger-centered philosophy

In his statements, the chairman of the Board of STA.SY Mr. Harris Damaskos stood on the environmental footprint of the actions implemented by the Company, but also its passenger-centered philosophy, emphasizing: “In Fixed Transport we support and promote the combined and environmentally friendly transport. We plan and implement actions, aiming at the continuous improvement of our passengers’ experience.

In this context, cyclists, users of fixed-track vehicles, are given the opportunity to transport their bicycles to the last wagon of the trains, following the applicable safety rules. Our cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is continuous, always focusing on the passenger and the continuous improvement of the services provided to him “.
