Professor sees 25,000 cases of coronavirus a day until July 15
The peak of the current pandemic wave in Greece has been expected, said professor Sarigiannis
Experts are deeply concerned about the increase in coronavirus cases, as most restrictive measures have now been lifted.
Scenarios for 20,000 to 25,000 daily cases are shown by the models of the professor of Environmental Engineering Demosthenes Sarigiannis, who also expects a peak of the current pandemic wave, as he revealed on SKAI television.
He described the course of the increase curve of the dispersion as completely predictable, due to the variants 4 and 5 that evade immunity, while at the same time measures have been relaxed and tourists flock to Greece.

Prof. Sarigiannis recommended the use of a mask and suggested that it should be made mandatory in places with great contact with the public.
Hospital docs union president: We are interested in hospital admissions not increasing
Matina Pagoni, president of the Athens and Piraeus Hospitals Association (EINAP) noted that there will be outbreaks and recessions of the coronavirus, but doctors are expecting this, while trying to maintain hospital admissions, which at the moment show an increase, but at a manageable level.
Ms. Pagoni added that the large percentage of vaccinations and the existence of antiviral medicines and protocols is what is keeping severe cases down, but urged those over 60 to undego a second booster dose, noting that – so far – only 17% of them have rushed to do so. As for 30-59 year olds, who do not have health problems, there is no scientifically proven evidence for additional vaccination, she added, unless they have been told to do so by their doctors
