Rents: Increases of up to 30% are a cross for students to bear
The wave of inflation is exacerbated by high rents
Rents have become exorbitant, further complicating the daily lives of citizens who are trying to cope with inflation. Things will also be difficult for students looking for a new home in another city, as both high prices and a lack of real estate availability greatly limit their options.

Speaking to MEGA channel, the president of the Association of Realtors of Attica, Lefteris Potamianos, spoke of “a complex problem”. In particular, as he said, no new homes were built in recent years and short-term leases are another reason for the increase in rents.
Reduction of home ownership
Mr. Potamianos noted that in 2007 the percentage of owner-occupancy was at 84%, at the moment it is at 73%, and the difference means that some people do not have their own houses but rent, increasing demand greatly and resulting in a shortage of properties and higher rents, which bear no resemblance to the picture three years ago.
