The Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, spoke on the Mega channel about police efforts to fight organized crime and the bloody incident in the Kato Patisia district of Athens.

The minister explained that after the end of the coronavirus quarantine, crime and misdeeds have increased all over the world, stressing that Greece could be no exception. The Minister noted that police presence has been bolstered  in the center and in the neighborhoods of Athens and in the whole of Attica, with 2,500 police officers on patrol every day.

Mr. Theodorikakos lauded police efforts  and once again publicly expressed his satisfaction with the way the two policemen reacted in the gang shoot-out in Kato Patisia.

“Police arrest the criminals but the Justice sets them free” noted Mr. Theodorikakos and added that from September 1 to June 30, crime has decreased by 30%, compared to the same period before the coronavirus quarantine.
