Turnover in retail trade up by 16.4% in May
Turnover rose to €3.11 billion, up from €2.67 billion in May 2021
An increase of 16.4% was recorded in the turnover of retail businesses with the obligation for double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, in May this year and amounted to 3.11 billion euros, from 2.67 billion euros in May 2021.

For the enterprises in retail trade divisions obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in May 2022 amounted to 3.11 billion euro, recording an increase of 16.4% in comparison with May 2021, when the respective turnover was 2.67 billion euros and an increase of 2.1% in comparison with April 2022, when the respective turnover was 3.0 billion euro.
The activities that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in May 2022 compared with May 2021 are:
• Retail sale of cosmetic and toilet articles in specialized stores, increase 58.1%.
• Retail sale of carpets, rugs, wall and floor coverings in specialized stores, increase 49.1%.
The activities that recorded the biggest decrease in turnover in May 2022 compared with May 2021 are:
• Sale of other motor vehicles, decrease 14,2%.
• Retail sale of electrical household appliances in specialized stores, decrease 3.3%.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in May 2022 compared with May 2021 are:
• Region of South Aegean, increase 65.5%.
• Region of Ionian Islands, increase 32.2%.

For the enterprises in retail trade divisions, excluding vehicles, food and fuel classes, obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in May 2022 amounted to 0.83 billion euro, recording an increase of 14.5% in comparison with May 2021, when the respective turnover was 0.73 billion euro and an increase of 1.9%
in comparison with April 2022, when the respective turnover was 0.82 billion euroσ.
The Regions that recorded the biggest increase in turnover in May 2022 compared with May 2021 are:
• Region of South Aegean, increase 83.5%.
• Region of Attiki, increase 14.7%.
The Regions that recorded decrease in turnover in May 2022 compared with May 2021 is:
• Region of Epirus, decrease 14.0%.
• Region of Northern Aegean, decrease 4.4%.
