Turkish military continues violations of Greek airspace in eastern Aegean
All total, 26 such instances were reported
Numerous violations of Greek airspace and infringements of Athens FIR regulations were made on Tuesday by Turkish warplanes in the eastern Aegean.
All total, 26 such instances were reported.
Hellenic Air Force fighter planes recognized and intercepted a pair of Turkish F-16s, along with a pair of CN-235 maritime surveillance planes and even an UAV.
The development comes a day after 18 Turkish warplanes, of which 10 were armed, engaged in violations of Greek airspace, and on the same day as a major religious holiday in the country. Previous CBMs between the two countries specifically called for a ban on any military activities in near-border areas on major holidays in either country.
On Monday, in fact, three overflights of Greek territory were reported, while in three instances engagements were reported when Greek warplanes moved to intercept the intruders.
