Greek PM receives UEFA president in Athens
The two men discussed initiatives by Athens, in cooperation with UEFA and FIFA, to resolve problems plaguing Greek pro football
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday afternoon received UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin at his Maximos Mansion office in Athens.
In statements afterwards, the UEFA chief thanked Mitsotakis for his government’s support against a closed European “Super League” by a bevy of the continent’s most prominent clubs, and in case before an EU court.
The two men also discussed initiatives by Athens, in cooperation with UEFA and FIFA, to resolve problems plaguing Greek pro football.
Mitsotakis focused on this point, saying his government wants to resolve all outstanding issues, while fully respecting the local federation’s autonomy.
“We’ll do what is necessary to ensure that we will leave behind us all the problems we’ve inherited,” Mitsotakis added.
