“Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with his speech on Saturday at the opening of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and also with yesterday’s Press conference, presented the road map and the political framework within which the Greek government will move over the next period until the elections. He took stock of the government’s rich record and explained to the citizens how Greece will get through the storm of major global crises,” the Greek government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said during a press briefing on Monday.
The prime minister also clarified, Economou pointed out, that he does not intend to change the electoral law unless main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras agrees to it and recognises that a system of simple proportional representation is currently inappropriate – especially at a time when the big issue is stability, not only in Greece but also throughout Europe. “Stability and confidence,” he stressed.
Economou said that the prime minister presented the three elements that will protect society and Greece: consistency, continuity, stability.
“He proved that we did whatever we promised, recalling the commitments we made in 2019 and reporting key elements of our work done in all areas. He pointed out the importance of political stability in the difficult times that the whole of Europe is going through and underlined that stability is a national necessity,” Economou pointed out.
