Naxos “Island of the Greek Gods” cheers Brazil’s CNN

An extensive tribute to the largest island of the Cyclades, Naxos, was presented by CNN Brazil.

The tribute was made after a planned press mission of the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades.

From soul soothing sights to… spuds

The reportage gave millions of CNN readers from all over America to the blue-green waters, the ancient temples, the traditional villages, the Byzantine churches and the castles of the “Ariadne’s island”.

Special mention is made of the gastronomy of Naxos, with the highlight being the potato due to its unique sweet taste.

Year round destination

Alongside the travel feature, videos of the destination filmed by the journalistic team are being broadcast on Brazilian TV stations encouraging viewers to avoid the commonplace and oft-travelled and discover the Cycladic “island of the gods” even after August.

“The increased tourist flow to Naxos continued in September with a new record of cruise arrivals, strengthened by 6.4% compared to 2019. The destination has been a magnet for tourists from many European markets and America, a trend we seek to develop further promoting from now on alternative interests besides the classic sun-sea model”, said the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos & Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras.
