Greek trade deficit down by 21.9% in January

A large reduction in the trade balance deficit in January was shown by the data announced today by the Hellenic Statistical Service (ELSTAT).
The total value of imports-arrivals, in January 2023 amounted to 6,827.1 million euros (7,329.9 million dollars) in comparison with 6,454.9 million euros (7,281.3 million dollars) in January 2022, recording an increase, in euros, of 5.8%. The corresponding value excluding oil products in January 2023 recorded an increase of 170.4 million euros or 3.8% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in January 2023 recorded an increase of 186.7 million euros or 4.2%, in comparison with January 2022.
The total value of exports-dispatches, in January 2023 amounted to 4,462.6 million euros (4,820.3 million dollars) in comparison with 3,427.7 million euros (3,889.8 million dollars) in January 2022, recording an increase, in euros, of 30.2%. The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded in January 2023 an increase of 429.0 million euros or 17.5% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in January 2023 recorded an increase of 423.7 million euros or 17.3%, in comparison with January 2022.
The deficit of the trade balance, in January 2023 amounted to 2,364.5 million euros (2,509.6 million dollars) in comparison with 3,027.2 million euros (3,391.5 million dollars) in January 2022, recording a drop, in euros, of 21.9%.The corresponding value of deficit excluding oil products in January 2023 recorded a drop of 258.6 million euros or 12.7% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in January 2023 recorded a drop of 237.0 million euros or 11.7%, in comparison with January 2022.
