Big 40% drop in Greek exports to Russia in January

Boosts trade between Greece and Ukraine

A large drop of 40.3% was recorded in the value of Greece’s exports to Russia in January this year, reaching 9.6 million euros from 16 million euros in the corresponding month of 2022, according to the data of Hellenic Statistical Authority-ELSTAT.

I. BILATERAL TRADE GREECE-RUSSIA

In January 2023 the value of imports of Greece from Russia was 498.0 million euros, recording a decrease of 0.1% in comparison with January 2022 when it was 498.7 million euros. The value of exports of Greece to Russia in January
2023 was 9.6 million euros, recording a decrease of 40.3% in comparison with January 2022 when it was 16.0 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Russia in January 2023 was negative and amounted to 488.4 million euros
(deficit).

In 2022, 397 Greek enterprises had imports from Russia and 404 Greek enterprises had exports to Russia. The total value of imports of Greece from Russia in 2022 was 9,334.1 million euros, recording an increase 117.0% in
comparison with the respective total value of the year 2021 when it was 4,302.4 million euros. The total value of exports of Greece to Russia in 2022 was 156.4 million euros recording a decrease of 24.3% in comparison with the corresponding total value of the year 2021 when it was 206.6 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Russia in year 2022 was negative and amounted to 9,177.7 million euros (deficit).

II. BILATERAL TRADE GREECE-UKRAINE

In January 2023 the value of imports of Greece from Ukraine was 31.9 million euros, recording an increase of 66.9% in comparison with January 2022 when it was 19.1 million euros. The value of exports of Greece to Ukraine in January
2023 was 96.1 million euros, recording an increase of 523.4% in comparison with January 2022 when it was 15.4 million euros. The trade balance between Greece-Ukraine in January 2023 was positive and amounted to 64.2 million
euros (surplus).

In 2022, 387 Greek enterprises had imports from Ukraine and 473 Greek enterprises had exports to Ukraine. The total value of imports of Greece from Ukraine in 2022 was 280.5 million euros, recording an increase 41.4% in
comparison with the corresponding total value in 2021 when it was 198.4 million euros. The total value of exports of Greece to Ukraine in 2022 was 343.2 million euros recording an increase of 1.3% in
comparison with the respective total value in year 2021 when it was 338.8 million euros. The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine in 2022 was positive and amounted to 62.7 million euros (surplus).
