Rhodes: The best April ever in terms of tourist arrivals

The tourist traffic on the island of Rhodes is growing at a particularly impressive pace, which confirms the predictions that this year’s tourist season will be very good both for Rhodes and for the other islands of the Dodecanese.

In April specifically, according to the data announced by Fraport Greece, for “Diagoras” airport, a 23%  increase in tourist arrivals was recorded compared to last year.

Last month is proving to be the best ever, breaking both 2022’s record and 2019’s record which until last year was considered the best year.

In particular, in April, 144,303 tourists came to Rhodes on charter flights compared to 111,057 last year and compared to 102,715 in the same month of 2019, recording an increase of 23% for 2022 and 28.8% for 2019.

This is a particularly positive development that was already seen during the month with the large number of flights that landed at Rhodes airport, but the double-digit increase in traffic was a pleasant development.

According to data, English tourists were ranked first, while Germans came in second by quite a large margin, and Israeli tourists came in third, which was the big surprise. The first five are rounded out by French and Finnish tourists.

Regarding the monthly report on the traffic of tourists through the airport of Rhodes, there is also a double-digit increase as according to the data, 250,323 passengers were trafficked compared to 190,806 in April 2022 with the percentage reaching 31.2%.

Along with the increase also noted by the traffic on domestic lines, which fluctuated at high levels, the final number of passengers handled through “Diagoras” airport reached 317,844 passengers in April compared to 245,818 last year. The increase reached 29.3%.
