Six new shutdowns from POS crosschecks with cash registers in Mykonos, Athens and Poros
What the auditors found
Another trick of tax evaders, through which tax evaders collect, but do not report, VAT, nor declare their income, has come under the crosshairs of auditors of the Independent State Revenue Authority – AADE.
These are the crosses between POS collections and those cash registers.
Through this tool, auditors identified and locked down four catering businesses in Athens, one in Poros and a clothing store in Mykonos.
The reason
Because they were found to have accepted payments via POS, for which they never bothered to issue a receipt, and/or forward it to AADE. In other words, customers who pay by card either do not receive any receipt, or – even worse – they receive the receipt, but the store does not declare it to the tax authorities.
Specifically, in Petralona and Agia Irini Square, four stores were found to have not sent receipts, with a total value of 682,000 euros. In addition to the 48-hour lockdown, a total fine of 43,000 euros was imposed.
A similar violation was also found in a restaurant in Poros, which had not issued, nor therefore forwarded receipts for 1,250 euros.
In Mykonos, a well-known clothing store was shuttered because it was found that it had not forwarded 424 receipts, with a total value of 61,000 euros.
