Greek fan murder: The facts that show the “rendezvous” of death outside the AEK stadium
Many knew but no one informed the unsuspecting citizens to move away
Shocking videos have come to light from the wild fracas in Nea Philadelphia last Monday night (7/8) outside the AEK stadium that led to the death of Michalis Katsouris.
The new video material in high resolution and clear image records the clashes between AEK fans and the Croatian hooligans.
They were lying in wait…
All indications are that a large group of AEK fans were waiting for the Croatian hooligans and when they appeared near the stadium in New Philadelphia the wild clashes began.
The images recorded by security cameras show the AEK fans ready for battle with their faces covered, helmets, gloves and clubs in their hands, reinforcing the scenario that they want to have been given a “date” of death with the Croatian hooligans. After all, from early that day the rumor about the descent of the Croats had circulated in Nea Philadelphia and preparations had begun for a “reception” according to reports from the Police.
With helmets, gloves and bats
Specifically, the initial information of police in the Security briefing notes that have seen the light of day, there is a reference to a call by AEK fans outside the stadium that evening under the “pretext of distributing tickets” for the match that was to take place the following day and was eventually postponed.
Also in the same police reports there is talk of intense mobilization in the ranks of AEK fans that was observed that day. And all this combined with the information that existed about the descent of the hooligans of Dinamo Zagreb.
No one informed unsuspecting citizens
To all of the above are added the shocking videos from that fateful night in Nea Philadelphia that record AEK fans getting ready for “battle”.
The new data come to demonstrate the enormous responsibilities of all those in charge who, with their mistakes and omissions, allowed these wild conflicts to take place between unsuspecting citizens and families who were sitting in the areas and cafeterias of the AEK stadium without leaving in time.
The 21 minutes of horror
According to the SKAI tv report, the video documents that everything happened within 21 minutes.
Specifically, from 23.05 on Monday (7/8), the time counts down for the 29-year-old Michalis. In a space where mothers with their babies stroll, incidents started. AEK fans are starting to appear in the area.
Michalis, wearing a helmet and gloves, moves to the spot where the Dinamo Zagreb hooligans have appeared. Molotov cocktails immediately begin to fall, and shortly after, the AEK fans begin to retreat.
In front of the entrance to the officials’ stand of the AEK stadium, Dinamo fans isolate one of them. They hit the fan repeatedly with sticks until he falls to the ground, they kick him in the head, someone yells at him to stop, the man manages to get away.
At the same time, the 29-year-old Michalis (the person trying to escape with the blue shirt) is hit with a club by a group of hooligans who were chasing a group of AEK fans. Michalis is chased by the enraged youths even after the stab he received from a knife. He makes his appearance in the pavilion next to the church. He hurries to hide. His movements do not bear witness to a man who has been seriously injured, while fights are raging on.
The 29-year-old shortly afterwards appears to take off his helmet and look at his left hand. Within a few seconds he runs a distance of about 50 meters, where he hides at the back of a booth, behind an ice cream cooler. It is the point where the 29-year-old collapses and takes his last breath, having received the fatal stab wound in the arm, in the forearm.
Specifically, it is 23.18 when Michalis collapses and everyone has understood that his life is in danger. An AEK fan tries to help him. The ambulance manages to reach the scene at 23.31. Michalis has lost precious time and a lot of blood. It’s too late now.
The video-documentary with Michalis
In a 46-second video, footage from security cameras shows 29-year-old Michalis.
The foreground shows a group of people, most of whom have their faces covered, and are holding boxes and various other objects. They are the fans of AEK since among them, in the red circle, Michalis Katsouris can be seen with a blue shirt, helmet and gloves
People run in the direction where the Croatian hooligans of Dinamo Zagreb appeared.
The shot cuts and from the same camera the same people are seen running in the opposite direction. It seems the AEK fans have clashed with the Croats and are retreating.
The unfortunate Michalis can be seen again and in a red circle he is seen to be hit with a stick from behind by another person.
At this point the 29-year-old has already received the fatal knife blow to his arm.
In the remaining 30 seconds, the footage is from the security cameras of the booth where Michalis went to find shelter with his helmet off and wearing a full face.
The whole left side of the body is full of blood. Within seconds it collapses. There’s also footage of the ambulance picking him up.
