Dendias touted the fact that even as the US adjusts its international presence it chose to remain in Greece, and he delicately confirmed that the Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) has been renewed for five years and that thereafter it will be in effect indefinitely.
On 14 October in Washington, Dendias is scheduled to sign with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the updated MDCA Annex. Over the last day there were feverish talks between the two sides in order to agree on the two texts that were being negotiated.
Dendias popularity is attributable in large measure to his statements at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in mid-April.
